Our Mission

We are an inclusive, safe, and affirming community of believers seeking to share the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord

All Are Welcome

Come join us as we make Christ’s love known through our hospitality and all-encompassing inclusion. We are an affirming church to all God’s children regardless of age, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, family makeup or socioeconomic situation, physical character or disability, or any other identity or way in which people differ that establishes who we are in God’s eyes. We foster a safe environment, inviting all God’s children to share in the life, fellowship, worship, ministry, leadership, responsibilities, blessings, and joys of our faithful community.

We invite you to join us in Prayer!

Mark 11:24 – Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

April is Earth Month

Happy Earth Month!

Maximo is committed to nurturing existing trees, shrubs, grasses and flowers across our Church grounds and planting new ones that are sustainable, drought tolerant, and environment friendly.

Nehemiah Action

Pastor Bobby speaking at a recent

FAST Rally

FAST, which stands for Faith and Action, Strength Together is a social justice ministry which fits perfectly into Maximo’s commitment of being a Matthew 25 church. This year’s FAST Committees in this area have been working very hard on Affordable Housing, Water Quality and Worsening Flooding, and Criminal Justice Reform.  Please help support Maximo’s work the last three years by attending the Nehemiah Action meeting on Tuesday April 30, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Ken Welch, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri and other officials have been invited to answer tough questions about the issues. The meeting will be held at the First Baptist Church, 1900 Gandy Blvd., St Petersburg. We will carpool from Maximo leaving at 6:15 p.m. If you plan to drive on your own and need assistance, contact our FAST Leader Kathy Calcaterra.

Pentecost Offering

Help youth begin life with a solid foundation of faith

Each year on Pentecost Sunday, we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and the birthday of the church. The Holy Spirit remains with us still, connecting us with the church of the past, continuing to inspire the church of today, and pointing us to the church of the future. Each year, this celebration is marked by receiving the Pentecost Offering which nurtures the faith of those who are the church to come. Pentecost arrives 50 days after Easter and 10 days after the Ascension — when Jesus ascends into heaven. Jesus and the Scriptures are making an important theological point at Pentecost. Jesus ascends and the church is born. If his mission and ministry is to continue, it is upon us, his disciples, to keep it going, and we have the Holy Spirit to lead us, who blesses us all with different gifts to be used at different times and in different ways. Our gifts to the Pentecost Offering connect with God’s hope and future, supporting ministries with children, youth and young adults by building a life of faith.

We will take up a special collection on Pentecost Sunday, May 19th, 2024

Campfire Fellowship

Over the past several ‘cooler’ months of the year, we have enjoyed fellowshipping with our Church community and friends while sitting by the fire and singing songs. We shared delicious food and gave thanks to God for the abundant gifts that have been bestowed upon us. We hope to see you next fall / winter on the first Saturday of each month as we once again fellowship around the campfire.

FAST Clergy Caucus meeting at Maximo’s Berset Fellowship Hall

We at Maximo were privileged to host the FAST Clergy Caucus. There were more than a dozen pastors, priests, and rabbi who attended. Our main focus is finding an effective way to hold elected officials accountable to meeting a modest need of 5,000 new affordable housing units in St. Petersburg. We are grateful and appreciative of the concerted efforts and plans which are making this dream come true.

Ruling Elder Kathy Calcaterra at FAST Meeting

It was a privilege to see Kathy Calcaterra at her first Presbytery meeting introducing herself as a Ruling Elder from Maximo. Kathy has been elected as a new Commissioner to the PCUSA General Assembly, representing the Presbytery of Tampa Bay. She and the rest of the Commissioners were installed at the meeting. She will be flying to Salt Lake City, Utah, to attend the General Assembly meeting in June/July of this year. Congratulations, Kathy! Please pray for the Holy Spirit to guide them in their decision-making of the difficult issues facing the church.
